Twinning

The regional partnership between the Bezirk of Lower Franconia and the Department of Calvados that has existed since 1986 as well as the multiple municipal partnerships between Lower Franconian and French towns and cities form important building blocks for the unity of Europe.

The Twinning Committee, a panel of the district council, and the twinning office are responsible for the partnership between the Bezirk of Lower Franconia and the Department of Calvados. It consists of passionate advocates for the German-French bond.

Members are appointed by the district council of Lower Franconia, which the members also represent externally.

The Twinning Office advises municipalities, institutions, professional organisations and associations on the search for their counterpart in Calvados, supports and organises exchanges in the youth and cultural sector, and promotes opportunities for learning the partner’s language, which it supervises, networks and coordinates.
